Ravens injury updates

There is a lot to report from the injury side of things with the Baltimore Ravens as they head into the latter stages of preseason.

Cornerback Lardarius Webb was activated off of the PUP list and could be ready in time for the season opener.

Linebacker Sergio Kindle is flying to Baltimore at the end of this week to be examined by doctors.

He will likely start the season on the PUP list but the team hasn’t ruled out a return after the first six weeks. (Read More…)

Foxworth out for the season

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

Foxworth was taking part in non-contact drills when he injured the knee and went down to the ground.

The cornerback told teammates he would be fine, but later found out from an MRI that it was far from the case.

He said he hardest part is knowing he let down so many people from the players and coaches to the fans. (Read More…)

Foxworth tears ACL, out for season

The Baltimore Ravens’ season has gotten off to an ominous start well before the opening kickoff. The AFC North contenders lost  Domonique Foxworth for the season, after the cornerback tore his ACL last week.

The injury is just the latest in a rash of them for Baltimore. The team is already dealing with the potential loss of rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle, who fractured his skull after falling down the stairs last week. And Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed and cornerbacks Fabian Washington and Lardarius Webb are coming back from ACL injuries of their own. (Read More…)

Reed to start season on PUP list

Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed said that he will begin training camp on the physical unable to perform list.

A lot of players begin training camp that way but are then taken off the list before the start of the regular season.

Reed does not anticipate being ready to be taken off the list, meaning he will miss at least the first six games of the season.

Safeties Ken Hamlin and Tom Zbikowski will likely battle in training camp for Reed’s starting job. (Read More…)

Ravens sign Hamlin

The Baltimore Ravens have signed veteran safety Ken Hamlin to a one-year contract. Hamlin was one of three veteran defensive backs that recently came into Baltimore for a tryout.

The announcement is somewhat surprising given reports that Walt Harris was the most impressive player at the tryout. It’s also a bit of a shocker considering the Ravens appear to be set at safety and have a bigger need at cornerback.

Hamlin has also played for the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys. It will be interested to see whether or not this is related to Ed Reed’s hip surgery.

Harris declines Ravens’ offer

Veteran cornerback Walt Harris declined an offer to sign a contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens offered Harris a contract worth the veteran’s minimum, and he apparently was not impressed.

Harris may have simply decided that he wouldn’t play for such a small amount of money at this point in his career. (Read More…)

Gaither signs tender

Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jared Gaither has signed his tender offer with the team.

Gaither has missed much of the team’s offseason organized activities with a stubborn foot injury. The left tackle had been working out on his own in Florida until called out by head coach John Harbaugh.

The team has been less than pleased with Gaither’s work ethic, something that was a red flag coming out of college.

He has been flipped from the left side of the line to the right side, which likely means he will sign elsewhere following next season.
